Members’ varied interests and backgrounds are reflected in our programs. If your choice is working the soil to grow beautiful flowers, edible plants, or containers and windowsill gardens, there is much to learn and share. Many speakers are experts in their fields, and members occasionally present programs. We sometimes have a potluck and planning session at the first or last meeting of the year, and in December we create small evergreen tabletop arrangements for the enjoyment of various groups and organizations in the area. Meetings are held 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on the 2nd Monday of the month, September to May, in members’ homes and on field trips to local farms and gardens. Leaders: Sally Esckilsen-Bush and Kari Michalowski.
Garden Amateurs I
Programs include presentations by members, guest speakers and field trips to gardens. Meetings are held in members’ homes, at the Ann Arbor City Club or at the tour site. We often have a potluck lunch and plant exchange in May. We usually meet at the 3rd Monday from September to June at 1 p.m. (except December). Extra garden walks may be scheduled during the summer. Leader: Diane Coxford.
Garden Amateurs II
Beginning and experienced gardeners learn about various aspects of gardening and related topics from programs given by members and from occasional guest speakers. We meet the 3rd Thursday at 7:30 p.m. starting in September. Meetings are held at the Ann Arbor City Club. Leaders: Margaret McClamroch and Judy Wilhelme.
